Craig Chandler Introduction Letter

Dear Calgary Shaw Residents & Business Owners,

Craig Chandler is seeking the nomination for the Progressive Conservative Party of Alberta (PCAA) that will be before March 15^th in your area (Somerset, Shawnessy, Millrise, Shawnee Slopes, Midnapore and Lake Sundance). Craig Chandler is a name you might be familiar with because of his track record helping to get solid conservatives elected such as, but not limited to: MLA Ric McIver, Jon Lord (Former MLA & City Councillor), Art Johnson (Former MLA), MLA Rick Fraser, MLA Jonathan Denis, Councillor Shane Keating, Councillor Joe Magliocca, Councillor Peter Demong, Premier Ralph Klein, Premier Mike Harris and Prime Minister Stephen Harper and even Premier Jim Prentice just to name a few! Moreover, Craig Chandler is well known for his creation of the Progressive Group for Independent Business (PGIB) which under his leadership has become the largest business and taxpayer organization in Calgary and area. With over 5,000 supporters and growing, PGIB out numbers the Calgary Chamber of Commerce and even the Better Business Bureau. Under Craig`s leadership, PGIB has been instrumental in influencing changes at all levels of government.

The main reason for this letter is to introduce you to Craig Chandler and to show our deep respect and encourage you to support him, not only in the upcoming nomination, deeply complicated by MLA Jeff Wilson, but in the upcoming 2016 Alberta General Election as well. As you will see from the endorsements in this letter, we represent a wide cross section of Albertan society. Many feel quite strongly that Craig Chandler is the most qualified candidate for the position of MLA in Calgary Shaw and one that will put not only Calgary Shaw first, but, Calgary and Alberta first as well.

There Are Many Reasons To Support Craig Chandler, But, We Have Chosen To Focus On Four.

Firstly, we need to elect people with a strong fiscal foundation and we know that Craig Chandler has this qualification. Craig Chandler has owned and operated various businesses for the past 24 years. His successful track record speaks strongly of his ability to manage budgets, and support people to give and do their best. Craig Chandler has an in-depth understanding of government at work. Craig Chandler believes that a government which governs best, governs least. If we sent more business owners to Edmonton, our money would be managed more effectively and efficiently. Craig Chandler has signed the front of a cheque and not just the back of one. His business track record as a business owner, participation on many boards and his Executive Directorship of PGIB is evidence, Craig Chandler has a solid business foundation.

Secondly, the constituency of Calgary Shaw needs to be represented in Edmonton by an individual who is a strong supporter of the family and has the respect for the rights of others. Craig Chandler is that person. Craig has been married to Julie for 17 years, is the father of two children and is a supporter of organizations such as the Calgary Dream Centre, Gain Canada and Canadian Artists for the Poor among others.

Thirdly, we need to send someone to Edmonton that will be effective as your voice. Craig Chandler has demonstrated that he will not only support, but articulate your views and articulate them well. In this nomination race it has now become a clear battle between MLA Jeff Wilson who was elected in Calgary Shaw as the Wildrose MLA and a very aggressive opponent of Premier Jim Prentice and Craig Chandler. Craig has served Calgarians in various capacities and Calgary Shaw as a previous Board Member of the PCAA for our area, as well as representing Councillor Peter Demong as his Campaign Chair for both elections and as his former Constituency Assistant at City Hall when Peter Demong was first elected. Jeff Wilson's recent floor crossing from the WRP to the PCAA is the political event of 2014 that stunned us all! It makes support for him very difficult.

Craig Chandler not only has a degree, but, also has been an active lobbyist on behalf of small business owners and individual taxpayers alike. Craig Chandler has had extensive media relations experience and has learned to deal with the labyrinth of red tape that can be applied by bureaucrats and politicians. In fact, Mayor Nenshi (like him or not) ensured that Craig Chandler and the PGIB were on the Cut Red Tape Commission at City Hall and Craig Chandler’s contributions have ensured a much more balanced tax structure for business in Calgary.

Lastly, Craig Chandler is a fighter. Craig has served on several boards for the Reform Party, Canadian Alliance, WRP and the PCAA. He is strong on policy, well known in political circles, experienced in debate & has helped draft policy which has made it to the convention floors of provincial & federal parties.

As one of the founding members of the opposition (Wildrose Party, WRP), Craig Chandler signed up over 4,000 members and managed Dr. Mark Dyrholm`s campaign against Jeff Willerton and Danielle Smith in the party`s first ever leadership race. Although, Craig Chandler was a major contributor to the membership base, policies and platforms of the WRP, Craig was invited back to the PCAA, and, after apologies were made to Craig, several years ago, Craig Chandler re-embraced the party once again. Craig Chandler witnessed first hand the devious tactics and intolerance & opportunistic mentality of the WRP and more specifically Danielle Smith. Danielle ran the WRP with her enforcers in an aggressive top down manner.

Our own MLA, Jeff Wilson was part of the crew that has skillfully attacked Jim Prentice and Craig Chandler. Let us not forget this! Craig Chandler deserves your support in this nomination.

Currently, Craig Chandler is continuing to make efforts to unite supporters from various parties behind him in his bid to become your PCAA Nominee in Calgary Shaw and consequently your MLA. Premier Jim Prentice will endorse (just like Prime Minister Stephen Harper did) sitting MLA's and those that crossed as part of a deal. Ask Rob Anders if that was a guarantee. The views by local voters like you are all that matter.
