Dennis Young Response To Disqualification Letter

HAND DELIVERED & BY FAX

Wednesday, October 5, 2011

Mr. Shane Saskiw,
Executive Director, Wildrose Party
408, 919 Centre Street NW
Calgary, Alberta T2E 2P6

Dear Mr. Saskiw,

I was somewhat startled to receive your letter of October 3rd advising me that I was disqualified from the nomination race in Calgary-Hays.

Firstly, there was no reason for the disqualification mentioned in the letter.

Also, I was not advised that my candidacy for the nomination was in question, nor was I given an opportunity to defend myself against whatever accusations may have been brought against me.

Further, I had had my interview with the Local Candidate Nominating Committee roughly six months ago, submitted my paperwork and my nomination fee. If I was going to be disqualified, I would have expected to be informed of it at that time. Since that time I have spent over $30,000, dropped two separate pieces of literature to every home and have door knocked 25% of the constituency resulting in many members for the party that I have yet to hand in. Out of the current members in Calgary-Hays 75% of them were signed up by my campaign. In addition to the memberships sold my team has also received full information including names, address, postal codes, phone numbers and even email addresses from hundreds more who wish to keep in contact.

Since I was not informed in your letter for the reason of my disqualification we contacted former leadership candidate Mark Dyrholm for advice. Mr. Dyrholm contacted Danielle Smith in regards to the situation. After some phone calls, she told us that the problem related to my military career: Specifically when I was a private soldier. I was once put into the stockade for fighting. This, however, stretches credulity: I was not charged under the Criminal Code and do not have a criminal record. In my nomination form I went above and beyond to tell you my entire life story, I guess I should not have been so detailed.

Such incidents amongst soldiers (who truly are fighting men) are foreseen in the National Defence Act, and are specifically not criminal matters.  I went on to an exemplary career as a military policeman, which is not permitted in cases of serious mis-behaviour. If this is truly the reason for disqualification as Danielle Smith informed Mr. Dyrholm, I cannot help but wonder if I am not suffering discrimination because of my military background.

I therefore wish to appeal the disqualification, on the grounds I have listed above. I look forward to being able to defend myself to the Committee.

Looking forward to your prompt response.

Sincerely,

Dennis Young

FORMER LIBERAL LEADERSHIP CANDIDATE JOINING WILDROSE

FORMER LIBERAL LEADERSHIP CANDIDATE JOINING WILDROSE
Bill Harvey Feels Dr. Raj Sherman Is Out Of Touch With Albertans

(Calgary) Bill Harvey, former Alberta Liberal Party leadership candidate has decided to leave the party he sought to lead and is now a member of the Wildrose Party of Alberta.

"After some time of reflection I have decided that my vote will be better parked with Danielle Smith and the Wildrose Party of Alberta.  The Alberta Liberal Pary has lost it's way and their values are completely out of touch with Albertans. The way Raj Sherman conducted himself in the campaign left a very foul taste in my mouth.  As someone who has been with the Liberal party for over 25 years and was a candidate for them in two elections, this was not an easy decision to make. I delayed my announcement until after the Alberta Progressive Conservative leadership race and their choice of a far left union puppet solidified my position" Stated Bill Harvey.

More Conservative, Less Progressive

More Conservative, Less Progressive
By Rob Anders, Member of Parliament - Calgary West

If Alberta is conservative country, how does the Progressive Conservative leadership result make sense? Gary Mar who campaigned for Alberta Liberal Harvey Locke against blue Tory Pat Black led the pack. Doug Horner as a replacement for Ed Stelmach and Alison Redford a feminist divorce lawyer filled out the top three spots for the final vote on October 1st. The more conservative Ted Morton placed fourth. Doug Griffiths who once advocated eliminating provincial income tax and Rick Orman came at the bottom of the list. Can Alberta still be the beacon of conservatism?

Only half as many Albertans came out for this race as the previous contest where Ed Stelmach squeaked up the middle. Many conservatives just chose to stay home. I attended the Ludwig von Mises Institute inaugural gathering in Calgary a couple weekends ago. Serious talk over the global debt crisis and the gold standard whetted the apetites of the economic libertarians in attendence. There were four Wild Rose candidates there and no Provincial Conservatives to be seen. Two days before the leadership vote I attended a Wild Rose Annual General Meeting for the Calgary West constituency. In a room of 25 people I think I was the only Ted Morton voter. Other right wingers were talking about voting Redford to push the PCs left or Horner to contrast with the less bland Danielle Smith. Wild Rose supporters had given up hope that Ted Morton could return the PCs to their Steve West deficit and tax reducing roots.

The PC drift to the centre failed to motivate the conservative base. Economic libertarians, social conservatives and cultural conservatives were taken for granted. Had a candidate promised to cut income tax even one percentage point that could have fired up the tax fighters. Had taxpayer subsidy of abortion been an issue church goers would have attended the gathering. Had radar cameras been blown out muscle motor enthusiasts would have revved up and shifted into high gear.

A parade of pale pastels missed the mark and failed to light a fire in the belly of Albertans. Unless the Progressives change their ways they are merely rearranging chairs on the deck of the Titanic. Albertans usually vote for the most credible right of centre option. Preston Manning called it when he said that the Progressive Conservatives are losing that title.

ALBERTA LIBERAL PARTY RIGGING VOTE FOR SHERMAN WIN

    - For Immediate Release - Thursday, September 8 2011 -

ALBERTA LIBERAL PARTY RIGGING VOTE FOR SHERMAN WIN
Bill Harvey Cries Foul Over List & Allowance Of "Found Memberships" Being Added

(Calgary) Bill Harvey a leadership candidate for the Alberta Liberal Party to be elected on Saturday, September, 10, 2011 is outraged at the Alberta Liberal Party allowing found memberships from the Raj Sherman campaign to be included despite the membership deadline and other irregularities.

Today at 1:15 pm Josipa Petrunic and Michael Cormican who are the Co-Chairs for the 2011 Alberta Liberal Party Leadership race issued a statement that the "...list of supporters was submitted to the office by Bharat Agnihotri in June. At the time, the supporter forms that Bharat submitted were processed by the office and filed for storage. According to the digital file compiled by office staff, those supporters were registered in mid-June. Due to a computer switch over, however, their names were not transferred to the new computing system that the office adopted in the same month"  The memo goes on to say "Michael and I have been asked to decide whether this "missing" list of registered supporters ought to be added to the current voter list and whether these people should now receive PINS to vote online or by telephone (such PINS would have to be issued manually by the office over the telephone this week). Having explored all options and precedents, Michael and I have decided to allow this list of people access to PINS and to the voting process."

"Election day is 2 days away! This is outrageous and is just the tip of the iceberg on how they have been influencing the vote in favour of Raj Sherman." Stated Bill Harvey.

The following is a synopsis of what has transpired throughout the campaign leading up to today's found memberships being added on:

  1. Although other campaigns had to share lists with Raj Sherman. The intial Memberships and Registered supporters list from the Raj Sherman campaign was supplied to us without phone numbers, emails or any contact information other then name and City.  We were told by the party to go through the voters list ourselves and figure it out. Hugh Macdonald sent us the list with completed data as one of his campaign workers reacted promptly to rectify the situation.
  2. We have found over 1,800 duplicates, wrong numbers and addresses or even people that do not exist on Raj Shermans list.
  3. Those who are duplicates and have inaccurate information have been allocated Pin numbers and appear on the on-line voting system.
  4. Many supporters of Bill Harvey who appear on the provincial Alberta Voters list were excluded from receiving a Pin number to vote on-line and are being forced to physically show up to vote on Saturday.
  5. Thousands of pieces of literature have been returned as they did not exist.
  6. Hundreds of people have told us and are outraged that they never registered to support Raj Sherman or anyone in this race for that matter.
  7. Over 600 supporters from Raj Sherman have been added to the list 2 days left to vote and will be provided with Pin numbers. This handicaps other campaigns.
"I am livid about this, I know Hugh Macdonald is as well after talking to him today.  It has been one thing after another with the party establishment trying to crown Raj Sherman.  I have no issue with being beat, but I will not tolerate a cheat. If Raj Sherman wins this race it calls into question his ability to be a leader." Concluded Bill Harvey.

PGIB ENDORSE BILL HARVEY

Progressive Group for Independent Business (PGIB)

PLEASE VOTE IN THE ALBERTA LIBERAL LEADERSHIP RACE
Seriously! This Is NOT A Joke!

Saturday, July 30, 2011

Dear Friends,

I know when you read the words above you almost had a heart attack and were scared, been there, done that. I actually threw up about the whole situation. Folks, you know me and I am as solidly small 'c' conservative as they come, thus, I am asking for your trust. After the initial shock of seeing a Progressive Group for Independent Business (PGIB) logo promoting that you take part in a Liberal leadership race and actually read this letter, you will understand.

As you know the PGIB is very active in politics at all levels of government. Unlike other organizations that seek headlines, PGIB seeks results in the political process on policy, nominations and elections. As we have in the past encouraged participation in leadership races such as the Wildrose Alliance and the Alberta Progressive Conservative parties, we are continuing to do so.

In the past Alberta Progressive Conservative Party leadership race we supported Ted Morton and (we do so once again). Quite frankly, if Ted Morton would have won the previous race, Alberta would not be in the position it is. There would be no running technical deficits, no denial of democratically elected candidates and punishing those that

contribute to our economy. The Wildrose Alliance Party may not have needed to exist.

We encourage you to look at our website at www.pgib.ca in our Lobbying Section and review the ad about Gary Mar.

However, the main reason for our letter to you is because we think we need to hedge our bets. With the Alberta Progressive Conservative and the Wildrose Alliance Parties splitting each others vote, this forces us to have a well thought out strategy for the upcoming election. If the wrong person becomes leader of the Alberta Liberal Party and the party manages to crawl up the middle and form government, we are in serious, serious trouble as a province!

That is why we are asking you to register to support Bill Harvey who is seeking to become leader of the Alberta Liberal Party. I know what you are thinking, but, keep reading as this is really, really important for the future of this province. You do not have to be a member of the Alberta Liberal Party to vote so this is a real opportunity for the movement.

Bill Harvey is a long time PGIB member and his views are Classical Liberal in flavour or as what we refer to in the modern day as small 'c' conservative. Bill Harvey's policies of less government, lower taxes and political accountability are of the fiscally responsible Laurence Decore era. His view on eliminating Section 3 of the Alberta Human Rights Commission show that he values freedom of speech and freedom of religion. Bill Harvey's policies on putting Alberta first with an Alberta Provincial Police force, controlling our own immigration to his promotion of a Triple E Senate and defense of our oil & gas industry show that he will be a defender of the west.

What is also refreshing about Bill Harvey is that he is NOT a federa l Liberal! How anyone could be supporter of a party that is the enemy of this province is beyond me?

The Alberta Liberal Party has opened up the leadership race to all Albertans and you do NOT, I repeat do NOT have to become a member to vote in this race. All you need to do in order to vote in this race and ensure that a small 'c' conservative / Classical Liberal like Bill Harvey wins and keep Alberta safe from the extreme left is the following:

  1. Go to http://electbillharvey.ca/register-form.html and fill out the details and submit your info.
  2. You will then get an on-line code to vote in the September election.

If you would rather call to register, you can do so by calling 403-726-1345. You MUST register in one way or another BEFORE August 18, 2011 so do it now!

It is also important to note that anyone 14 years of age and up can vote in this race.

We need to secure Alberta's future and that means being pragmatic in the leadership races facing our province. Albertans from all walks of life flooded the Alberta Progressive Conservative Party in their last leadership race and elected the far left Progressive, Ed Stelmach as leader. This race was evident of what an organized vote in action can do. Now it is our turn!

You have only two choices: You can register and make sure in the next election there are three parties with a fiscally responsible leader or do nothing and have the possibility of the far left running this province due to a vote split.

You will see many polls throughout the race, but, the polls do not take into account the campaign membership sales and the registrations directly with Bill Harvey's campaign. From the numbers we are seeing and hearing about it appears to be a two way race between business owner and church going Bill Harvey and one issue candidate Dr. Raj Sherman.

Based on the inside information we have, we encourage you to compare the two leading candidates and we are sure

you will conclude as we have that Alberta is worth protecting!
